So to start off, I have terrible social anxiety and put the most horrific social situations in my head when im in a new setting. Real life Example- I go to the gym at 4AM so even though i dont know anyone, i know their faces. Because of my work schedule, i had to work out today at 8PM. No big deal right? Well while at the gym, it was not very busy and i didn’t recognize anyone there. On my program, today was leg day and one of the exercises was hip abduction/adduction. So i went to the machine and right in front of it was a girl on the prone leg curl. And in my head im like “Oh crap, with the way shes laying down, shes going to think im creeping” or “What if she thinks im staring at her and then confronts me and records me” i really didnt want to skip to the next exercise. So reluctantly i hopped on the machine. I just stared at the weight on the machine or at my crotch area. I dont think she noticed me on the machine, but i still felt super awkward. Should I have just waited till she cleared the area? I know im making a big deal out of most likely nothing, but again, my social anxiety sucks so im curious what any of you think? For what its worth, im a male and 23 years old
